HI Friends, The 2010 Technique Club met last Monday night, and our new member Carol A. offered this sample Stand UP card. We learned this Technique at the January Club Meeting. She turned it into a cute Birthday card and used a VersaMark Ink pad and a stamp to create a subtle background in place of using patterned paper. Great idea, Carol. Unfortunately, you probably cannot see that in the pictures. She used a Wheel to decorate the band and some star embellishments. When you open the card you will see more VersaMark stamping and her greeting. She topped it off by using the new Scallop Edge Punch she earned free in the Sale-A-Bration mini catalog. You still have time to get yours, contact me soon. Here are the samples:
If you want to make this card or any other project you see on this blog, simply contact me at kubotajudy@yahoo.com. Next week I will show you the February project and the samples made by the club members.
Do you remember that there are a list of free stamp sets you can earn at the back of the Sale-A-Bration mini catalog? I have been ordering some of those, and since one of my grandsons is playing on a Basketball team, I needed the "Just Basketball" stamp set for his scrapbook pages -- I received it free!!!
Here are two sample cards my daughter made with the stamp set. As the team mom she needed thank you cards for the coaches.
The first card uses Basic Grey card stock, Pumpkin Pie Ink Pad and Linen Thread as an accent. The second card is done with Whisper White, Basic Black and Real Red card stock. The background is done with Basic Black ink. This is a stamp if off technique to give a lighter image. To do this you ink your stamp, stamp it on a piece of scrap paper and then stamp it on your project.

I used the "Totally Tess" stamp set for this cute calendar. There are magnets on the back which allows you to hang this on your refrigerator or office file cabinet.
We are back with another monocromatic EASTER sample and we are again using the Eggcoutrements stamp set. I had so much fun with the Orchid one last week, I decided to try using the Certainly Celery Designer Paper from the Shades of Spring Designer Paper found in the Occasions Mini on page 25, Item No. 117160 at $9.95.
Step 1: Cut a piece of Certainly Celery at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", and score at 4 1/4". Fold in half and set aside. With a Certainly Celery Classic Stamp Pad stamp the "Easter" image on a scrap of Whisper White Card Stock and punch with the Designer Label Punch. Set these aside.
Step 2: Cut the Designer Paper at 4" x 5 1/4". Wrap a 6" piece of Certainly Celery 5/8" Grosgrain ribbon around the paper and adhere to the back with tape. Punch two circles out of a scrap of Certainly Celery card stock with the 1 3/4" Circle Punch.
Step 3: Tuck the two Certainly Celery circles under the ribbon allowing about 3/4" to show above and below the ribbon and adhere. Use a mat and paper piercing tool to punch two holes through the ribbon and designer paper - then insert two silver brads.
Step 4: The last step is to adhere a dimensional behind the "Easter" embellishment and center over the ribbon and Certainly Celery circles. YOU ARE DONE! I find that when the background paper is this beautiful, you really do not need to add very much to your card. I am having so much fun with this I will show you another one again next week. Check back for that!

I am sure you are aware that we are in the final month of our annual Sale-A-Bration (SAB) campaign. This is the best promotion of the year, so take advantage of the time remaining to place a qualifying order ($50.00 or more) to receive a free gift/s. There are six items to select from in the SAB mini catalog. In addition, this year you can select items from the current Idea Book and Catalog that are listed on the last page of the SAB mini. If by chance you do not have the mini, all of the current catalogs are available on this blog -- check out the right side bar.
I am here to help you, so please let me know if you have any questions. Please note that the Occasions MIni is also available. You have lots of choices. The SAB mini expires on March 31, so take a look at it and place your order soon.
Here is a quick and easy card to make for Easter. I love shades of purple and lavender, so I really think this card is stunning both because of it's monocromatic color scheme, and also due to it's simplicity.
First, I used the fabulous "Eggcoutrements" Clear Mount stamp set (found on page 22 of the Occasions Mini Catalog, Item 118556 at $16.95). You can order that on-line or contact me directly.
Next, I cut a piece of Orchid Opulence card stock at 5 1/2" x 8 1/2", scored it at 4 1/4" and folded in half. The first layer is a piece of the Shades of Spring Designer Series Paper (also found in the Occasions MIni Catalog on page 25, Item 117160 at $9.95) cut at 4" x 4 1/4". Adhere this to the card base. This particular package of Designer Series Paper is so beautiful, I plan to make more Easter projects to share with you. You will find them here on each Tuesday during the month of March.
Next step is to stamp the Bunny face (circle) on a scrap of Whisper White card stockusing an Orchid Opulence Stamp Pad (either Craft or Classic -- whichever you have). I used my Craft pad since my classic pad was too dry. I did re-ink it but did not want to wait for it.
\
We are now ready to punch and assemble the embellishment. Punch a scrap of Orchid Opulence with the Circle Scallop Punch, punch a scrap of Whisper White with the 1 1/4" punch and the Bunny with the 1" circle punch. Adhere these three pieces.
Cut a piece of Orchid Opulence card stock at 1 1/2" x 5 1/2". Adhere a "Faux Bow" to this pieceby cutting a strip of White Taffeta Ribbon at 6 1/2". Wrap it around to the back and adhere with tape. Cut a second piece of the ribbon at 4 1/2" and tie on the front in a single knot. Trim your ends to fit. Use a mat and paper piercing tool to put a hole in each end of this piece of Orchid Opulence card stock. Insert a silver brad at each end going through the ribbon layer also. Use a Signo White Gel Pen to add a dot on each scallop.
Next you adhere the Orchid Opulence strip to the front of the card, add a couple Dimensionals behind the scallop circle and adhere to the strip. Use mini glue dots to place the ends of the ribbon where you want them, add the greeting and you are done! Didn't I tell you this was an easy one. Leave a comment and tell me what you think. I am always open to comments and suggestions. Here is the finished card, can you see that I stamped the greeting directly on the ribbon. How cool is that!
I do not know when I have had more fun! My daughter, Dawn, and I spent a weekend in Big Bear at a Scrapbooking retreat. We stayed at Apple's Bed and Breakfast (I highly recommend this facility if you want a great place to stay while you are in Big Bear). They have two rooms that are booked every weekend for scrapbooking retreats. Our group numbered approximately 16, so had the smaller of the two rooms. Each person had their own 6' table, a shared kitchenette plus lots of fun with our friends. We ate too much food! It was awesome to be pampered that way. I guess the highlight of the trip was staying an extra night -- yes, we were SNOWED IN!!!
Dawn and I leaving in her new Navigator.
AWESOME breakfast with our friend, Diana.
Everyone busy and working hard.
More hard work!
This is what we woke up to on Saturday morning. It snowed all day Saturday!
I took this picture because it was so beautiful! I guess you can understand why we stayed an extra night -- the cars were burried!
This is an annual event for this group of friends. Dawn and I are already talking about what we could work on next year.
WE HAVE ADDED AN ADDITIONAL SESSION FOR THIS POPULAR CLASS. SCROLL DOWN TO THE BOTTOM OF YESTERDAY'S POST FOR THAT IMPORTANT INFORMATION. PLEASE CONTACT ME WITH ANY QUESTIONS YOU MIGHT HAVE.
