STEPPING OUTSIDE THE BOX

At the April Technique Club meeting we made JEWELERY!!!  It was so much fun.  We used our Hodgepodge Hardward, Designer Label Punch, Window Sheets, Pretties Kit, etc.   The first sample is the Riding Hood Red version we made in class.  

This pink version is what I gave my two daughters for Mother's Day.  The next picture shows the inside of the card with the pocket to hold the necklace chain.  I added matching earrings and hung them inside.

One club member, Robin Y.,  accecpted the challenge to recreate the class project.  All of the club members were impressed with her work.  Shown below are the two samples she shared with us.  On this card she used the beautiful Medallion technique from one of our prior classes.

It you look cloase you can see that she added earrings to this one.  Great minds run in the same direction!   

The current Technique Club will end in October 2009.  We will take enrollment for next year's club in November and December.  Be sure to watch for the announcment.  You really do not want to miss out on all the fun we have!

"Last Chance List" includes the 2008/2009 In-Colors

On June 1st Stampin' Up! will start announcing their retiring items from the current Idea Book and Catalogue. While we don't know for sure what will be on the Last Chance List, one thing is always CERTAIN - we know for sure that the lovely In-Colors for the 2008-09 year will be replaced with fresh new colors.

If you really love these colors, it's best to stock up on cardstock etc. NOW.  I strongly recommend that if you have an ink pad, you purchase the coodinating reinker (if you haven't already!).  That way, you can continue stamping in these lovely colors for a long time to come.

FAITH'S 9th BIRTHDAY (CARD MAKING) PARTY

On Friday, May 8th, Faith invited 12 of her friends to her Birthday Party -- Crazy for Cupcakes Theme.  We ended up with 13 -- one of her friends heard about the party and invited herself!  It was a blast.  Faith's mom (Yvonne) made cupcake treats to match the theme of the party.  Everything was pink.  We handed out flyers to the parents of the girls who attended.  Just want all of you to realize this is only one theme.  We can create any theme you like, time and stamp sets permiting.  Shown below are a few pictures from the party.  My daughter, Dawn, helped with the party and had as much fun as the girls. 

This is a card that stands three feet tall.  One of Faith's friends made this -- she copied the party invitation!  When you lift up the cherry on top, you find the message and gift.  These kids are very clever.  (note to the maker:  sorry I did not get your name). 

A fun time was had by all.  Anytime you want to have a card making party, simply give us a call. 

"Last Chance" Contest - BEGINS 8AM 5/22/09

Since the "Last Chance" list (aka Retired List) will be available on June 1, I thought it would be fun to hold a contest to give you the opportunity to earn some free merchandise.  So get your catalog out from under all your papers and start looking at it.  The first 12 are your picks.  Number 13 is the tie breaker.  Winner receives a $30 Credit toward any stamp set in the catalog.  If the lucky winner gets all 13 correct, she will receive an additional $10 Credit.

There's more -- everyone who participates will receive a $5 credit toward their June "Last Chance" order of $50 or more.      AND,  if you are one of my Facebook fans, you qualify for an additonal $5 credit.

BLOG UPDATE

In the last few months I have improved the blog by adding the banner with links to information.  TODAY I added a new feature -- My Store!  When you click on the "My Store" button you will see the "finished products" I have for sale. The first item I am offering is a useful tool caddy to use for your crafting supplies and/or at your deck at work. 

CARDS FOR DADS (CLASS)

Since we all need more "guy" cards, I am offering a class dedicated to guys!  The first card uses the "Totally Tools" stamp set.  This card is a pop-up with a work bench inside.  It is so dang cute! 

The next card is a brayered scene which can be used for the upcoming Father's Day celebrations or birthday or even a get well card that is appropriate for guys.  I have decided to call this a "Brayer 101" card.  This is a great technique to learn if you have not tried this before.  You will be amazed at how fast this card goes together.

The third project is a Gift Card Holder using the "To The Nines" Designer Series Textured card stock.  This is an easy gift card holder to make when you use double sided card stock.  You will be able to choose from several patterns and you can make more than two based on available supplies. 

DATE:  Friday, June 5 at 6:30pm, or Saturday, June 6 at 1:30pm

FEE:  $20 if you register no later than Sunday, May 31.  Late registration fee is $25.

SCRAPBOOK CLASS

Celebrate National Scrapbooking Month with us by attending this special class.  We will teach you the technique of starting with a 6" x 6" page.  The second step is to turn that into an 8 1/2" x 11" page.  The final step is to turn both of those into a 12" x 12" page.  We will then complete the second 12" x 12" page so that you will go home with two 12" pages ready for pictures.  The theme for this project is Mother's Day.  Pictured below is the first step, the 6" x 6" page.  It just keeps getting better.  We use the Sweet Talk and Lovely Letters stamp sets and Flock together Designer Series Paper.  Everyone loves birds, so we are confident you will love this project.  This class is for everyone -- from the "I have never done a scrapbook page" to avid scrapbookers.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

Just a quick message to wish every  mom who visits my blog a special and fun celebration with your families.  This is for you. 

What is a Mother's Love?  It is something that is very, very special. It is something that no one can really explain.  It's something that is made up of much deep devotion, joy, pain and sacrifice. It is endless and unselfish and it endures whatever may come.

It is full of hopes, dreams, tears and pleasure. Nothing can ever destroy it or take that
special love away. It is very patient and forgiving.

A Mother's love is a lifelong commitment to selflessness. More often than not, it requires much more
giving than receiving. But it is something that is given with delight, gratitude, enthusiasm and much satisfaction. A Mother's love never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking. It is always believing when all the rest of the world is condemning.

A Mother's love is a splendored miracle that man cannot understand. It is something that cannot be measured.  Enjoy your day, you definitely deserve it.
